What is SCOR?

OU Lean participantsThe Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model is a standard used throughout many industries for supply chain management.

It was created in order to improve communication between supply-chain partners. The SCOR model accomplishes this by detailing the relationship between each of the five management processes within the model: plan, source, make, deliver and return. Whereas Lean and Six Sigma look at processes within an organization, SCOR examines your organization within the context of the whole stream of its suppliers and customers.

Ultimately, SCOR will help you by:

  • Inputting data in order to better analyze various configuration options
  • Describing, measuring and evaluating the supply chain
  • Supporting strategic planning
  • Encouraging continual improvement of the chain
  • Focusing on customer interactions and product transactions

The efficient and effective operation of the supply chain is critical to organizational effectiveness.

Employees trained in SCOR will contribute to your organization’s transformation by:

  • Strategically aligning the business supply chain
  • Building clear process models that show critical dependencies
  • Creating a standard approach for managing supply chain projects
  • Identifying weak links and improvement opportunities in the supply chain
  • Developing supply process improvement
