About LEAN Institute Faculty & Coaches Partners Staff

The Lean Institute at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB) is designed to support enterprise-wide transformation of core processes through dynamic, focused professional training that is tailored to meet the Air Force's specific needs. Training includes workshops and coached activities that deploy SCOR, Lean and Six Sigma process improvement knowledge and skills. The Institute reflects a partnership model that builds branding, unity of effort, responsive decision and planning cycles, efficient use of resources, and a powerful collaborative relationship between Tinker AFB and OU. The plan leverages the Air Force's institutional strengths and current capacity and exponentially grows both through a comprehensive training and resource program.

Training is characterized by:

  • World class trainers and educators

  • Dynamic, challenging and professional training

  • Advanced content focused on skills and knowledge required to support transformation efforts

  • Emphasizes skills application in the workplace Extensive hands-on activities

  • Coached application of skills in process improvement projects

  • Integration of SCOR, Lean and Six Sigma process improvement strategies that provides best improvement outcomes and sustainable transformation

  • Professional certification, Continuing Education units (CEUs) and academic college credit

The Lean Institute at Tinker AFB will use an integrated model that takes advantage of the synergistic power of the SCOR, Lean, and Six Sigma tools. This cohesive and integrated approach promotes the appropriate blending of the three methodologies for process improvement while still allowing for discrete content emphasis for each workshop audience. The Venn diagram visually presents the idea of blending training while retaining the specific content emphasis.
