Lean Research - Article Submission

In order to better serve the community of Lean / Six Sigma practitioners, the Lean Institute at the University of Oklahoma is creating a new set of resources as part of its newly expanded website.

Article and book review submissions are welcomed from individuals who have received training in Lean or Six Sigma process improvement techniques. Articles may address any aspect of process improvement techniques, application, or theory and articles based on documented process savings from certification projects are always welcome. Articles will be reviewed by the Lean Institute staff and selected articles will be forwarded out for peer review upon their assessment, to be reviewed by experts in the field. Most articles that are selected for posting will first be returned to the author with suggested revisions. Contributors whose articles are accepted for publication will receive CEU credit from the OU Lean Institute.

Articles should be written in clear, jargon-free English with adequate but not excessive documentation. Articles should be between 3,500 and 5,000 words and should conform to the guidelines of the Chicago Manual of Style with appropriate citations. Book reviews should be no more than 1,000 words.  The Lean Institute also welcomes responses to posted articles. To be considered for publication, responses should be no longer than 1,000 words, including endnotes (which should be kept to a minimum). Responses are not peer-reviewed and are published at the discretion of the OU Lean Institute. All articles and responses are subject to editing by the OU Lean Institute for length and style.

The OU Lean Institute will require copyright clearance and non-exclusive publication rights for any material deemed suitable for publication, but copyright ownership will remain with the author.

Articles should be submitted electronically in MS Word format to Dr. Marc Jensen at marc.jensen@ou.edu. Please specify “Article Submission” in the subject line.
