Value Stream Mapping (2 days)

This introductory Value Stream Mapping course teaches the technique of Lean process mapping, also known as Value Stream Mapping. This technique is used to analyze information and work flow from the customer’s initial request to delivery of the final product or service. Students will learn the symbols and language of a value stream map and complete a current state map of an internal process.

Who Should Attend:  Employees with knowledge and enthusiasm needed to take the technique of Value Stream Mapping and apply it effectively within their organizations.  

Objective:  At the end of the course, participants will understand how to utilize Value Stream Mapping to analyze current information and to create a current state map of their particular organization’s internal process(es). Upon completion of training, each student will be able to apply VSM competently and confidently in the context of their organization.

Topics:  Each student trained in VSM will understand:

  • Symbols, language and other components of Value Stream Mapping
  • How Value Stream Mapping can be used to analyze information and work flow from beginning to end
  • How to apply VSM in particular frameworks and how to create current state maps of internal processes of said frameworks
