Lean Implementers (10 days)

Our Lean Implementers program provides training for company employees who will have primary responsibilities for implementing Lean strategies within their workgroups and across the enterprise. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to facilitate process improvement through intensive, interactive training in practical Lean applications, such as Value Stream Mapping, Flow-time Reduction, 5S+1, pull systems, etc.

Who Should Attend:  Individuals identified for this intense training should be those who will be responsible for implementing Lean strategies and facilitating process improvement within the enterprise. Employees should be chosen by management based on their proven ability to engage, encourage and lead their peers.

Objective:  At the end of the course, participants will understand the Lean strategies and tools, the relationship of the transformation components of Lean, SCOR and Six Sigma and how to lead process improvement projects. Each trained Implementer will be able to:

  • Plan for Lean applications and related metrics
  • Conduct Value Stream Mapping on any process
  • Plan for and execute flow-time reduction (“speed” increase) activities
  • Plan for most effective workplace design and most efficient work motions. Be able to apply 5S+1
  • Design and execute cellular production activities
  • Reduce set-up time and speed “changeover” activities
  • Design an effective/productive maintenance process
  • Design pull systems with Kanbans and associated controls
  • Apply quality, employee empowerment and training requirements

Topics:  The workshop includes ten days of intensive training and hands-on exercises that will train each participant how to deploy and lead process improvement strategies effectively with the enterprise. The participants will be taught how to use Lean strategies effectively and how to integrate the transformation components of SCOR, Lean and Six Sigma to create process improvements. The two-week workshop will be followed by a 90-120 day coached activity during which each trained Implementer must demonstrate, under the coaching of a Lean Institute instructor, the ability to implement and lead process improvement using Lean and integrated strategies by completing a specific process improvement project.
